Tobias Wenting

Ever since I sat down at an old piano at my parents’ friends’ house, the instrument has been an integral part of my life and work. After studying classical piano at the School for Young Talent, I decided to broaden my horizons by studying Composition for Film and Theater at the ArtEZ Conservatory in Arnhem. At ArtEZ, my love for playing the piano, composing, singing, and writing lyrics came together within the realm of Dutch cabaret. I am constantly searching for unconventional ways in which music and text can come together. My theater work features virtuoso musical and textual surprises. In addition to my work as a pianist and theater maker, I am involved as an arranger and composer in various theater, film, and game projects both in the Netherlands and abroad.  Since 2021, I have been serving as coordinator of the music preparatory programs at the ArtEZ Conservatory in Arnhem. Here, I aim to equip my students with a solid foundation of technical skill while simultaneously encouraging and inspiring them to approach the profession of musician as broadly and openly as possible.
