In October 1912, six months after the Titanic's earth-shattering disaster, the film "In Night and Ice" is shown in Holland for the first time. The film is a sensation. 'In Night and Ice' is a primal disaster film. It is the first surviving film about the Titanic disaster. The film contributed to the myths surrounding this historic event.
The film was recently restored. Based on archive material from 1912, I wrote new film music for the complete film in the scoring: piano, violin and four-part male choir. This was also the official scoring with which the film had its premiere in the Netherlands in 1912.
